SUMMARY:Debates - Launch Report OECD/DAC Peer Review of the Netherlands
DESCRIPTION:On June 28\, 2017 the ISS will host the debate on the occasion of the offical Launch of the Report on the OECD/DAC Peer Review of the Netherlands. During the event there will be 3 debates all of which relate to the report on the OECD/DAC Peer review report.  \nFirst debate\nThe first debate statement is “The Dutch approach: aid\, trade\, investment and engaging the private sector\, are the best way to achieving the sustainable development goals.”  The frontbencher for the proponents of this debate is Mr Marcel Vernooij (Sustainable Economic Development Department\, Ministry of Foreign Affairs). The frontbencher for the opponents is Mrs. Danielle Hirsch (Director Both Ends). The Debate will be followed by reflections from Ms. Lize Swartz\, a PhD researcher at ISS. \nSecond debate\nThe second debate statement is &#8220;“Civil society organizations must shift from being channels for aid to being independent political actors.” The frontbencher for the proponents is Mr. Rolf Schipper (Campaign leader at the Vereniging Milleudefensie). The frontbencher for the opponents is Dr. Georgina M. Gomez (Associate professor Institutions and Locat Development\, ISS). This will be followed by reflections from Mrs. Salomey Gyamfri Afrifa\, a PhD researcher at ISS. \nThird debate\nThe third debate statement is “Focus on SDG-related themes takes priority over building on partner country systems&#8221;. The fontbencher for te proponents is Prof. Dr. Ronald L. Holzhacker (Professor of Multilevel Governance and Regional Structure at the University of Groningen). The frontbencher for the opponents is Mrs Isti Hidayati (PhD researcher University of Groningen). The debate will be followed by reflections from Mr. K.
