SUMMARY:Second High-Level Meeting Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation
DESCRIPTION:The Second High-Level Meeting (HLM2) of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC) is hosted by the the Government of Kenya in Nairobi fromÂ November 28 to December 1\, 2016 and aims to amplify the positive impact of development co-operation over the next 15 years.Â Based on inclusive consultation\, the HLM2 outcome document will help to shape how existing and new development actors can partner to implement Agenda 2030 and realise the SDGs. \nThe Second High-Level Meeting will: \n\nTake stock of the implementation of development effectiveness principles and commitments\nProvide a learning space on development effectiveness\, showcasing successful examples\nIdentify innovative approaches to sustainable development that can be scaled up\nPosition the Global Partnership to effectively contribute to implementation of the SDGs and the Addis Ababa Action Agenda\n\nGPEDC\nAs a multi-stakeholder platform the the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC) aims to facilitate more effective cooperation between nations\, businesses and organizations\, to contribute to reach the UN Global Goals.\nGuided by its monitoring system\, four principles are at the core of the GPEDC: (1) country ownership\, (2) focus on results\, (3) inclusive partnerships\, and (4) transparency and accountability. Another important asset of the GPEDC is its network of more than 30 Global Partnership Initiatives (GPIs) that organize concrete actions for better development cooperation worldwide. \nYouth and The Road to Nairobi\nYouth and women empowerment has been selected by Kenya as thematic priority to be further discussed in Plenary Session 4 of the HLM. on December 1\, 2016 at 10:30.\nThis session will focus on economically empowering women and youth. In preparation to the plenary session\, which will be attended by many high-level development shapers\, a Youth Forum will identify key issues. In addition\, all parties have been requested to include a youth representative in their respective delegations to the HLM. This ultimately offers young people from all over the world the opportunity to raise their voice on development issues that matter for them. \nVia several side-events\, many inspiring and innovative initiatives will be showcased\, including The Road to Nairobi 2016. Selected youth entrepreneurs will be invited to share their experiences with this project and show how they took leadership by co-creating solutions and actions to promote youth employment in their countries. \n

DESCRIPTION:As a follow-up to the ICN2\, FAO and WHO are organizing an International Symposium on Sustainable Food Systems for Healthy Diets and Improved Nutrition. The idea is for countries to learn from one another about the innovative ways to improve diets and nutrition through food systems-related policies and interventions. \nAs countries increasingly recognize the importance of food systems in addressing the vicious cycle of hunger\, food insecurity and malnutrition\, FAO hosts an International Symposium on Sustainable Food Systems for Healthy Diets and Improved Nutrition. \nSpecial events\nDuring the Symposium some special events will take place: \n\nOn the first day\, King Letsie III of Lesotho\, will be appointed as FAO Special Ambassador for Nutrition.
