SUMMARY:Marrakech Climate Change Conference
DESCRIPTION:At the Marrakech Climate Change Conference – November 2016 (7-18 November)\, nations of the world will continue their work on strengthening the global response to the threat of climate change\, with the central focus placed on enhancing ambition\, promoting implementation and providing support. \nParis Climate Change Agreement\nMarrakech also marks a turning point because the landmark Paris Climate Change Agreement will enter into force during the conference. Strengthening action on mitigation and adaptation by all Parties before 2020\, governments will make concerted efforts in Marrakech to support domestic action that will give effect to nationally determined contributions\, combined with collaborative initiatives as part of an intensified Global Climate Action with non-state actors. \nThe COP22\nThe COP stands for the “Conference of the Parties.” It is the supreme decision-making body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)\, opened for signature in 1992 during the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro and later entered into force in 1994. Through this instrument\, the United Nations has equipped itself with an action framework to fight global warming. \nThe COP was created and put in place in order to structure the efforts of the Parties to the Convention as they address climate change. The COP meets annually to review and assess the implementation of the UNFCCC and any other legal instruments the body adopts with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fighting climate change. These annual UN climate change conferences are commonly referred to as COP. The COP22 is scheduled to take place in Marrakech\, Morocco from November 7 to 18\, 2016. \nMarrakech Conference\nAt the Marrakech Conference\, countries around the world will also work hard to put in place measures for strengthening appropriate financial flows\, a new technology framework and an enhanced capacity building framework as envisioned in the Paris Agreement with a view to supporting action by developing countries and the most vulnerable countries\, in line with their own national objectives. \nFor an overview schedule of the two weeks of the conference\, please see here. \nWhether you will be in Marrakech or following the conference virtually\, the Marrakech Conference Information Hub regularly gives you a quick access point to find out how to participate or follow the negotiations and how to navigate through the many pieces of information and news that are available. \nHolland Pavillion\nA Holland Pavillion for Dutch agencies and companies will be part of the Conference. Contact is the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Rabat or RVO. \n \n

SUMMARY:Webinar - Breaking Barriers: Integrating Gender and Nutrition Into Extension Services
DESCRIPTION:Extension professionals are fully committed to improving rural livelihoods and strengthening communities\, but there is still a great need across the board to breaking barriers and better integrate gender and nutrition into their services. Integrated development projects have become the norm\, but the fact still remains that simple\, evidence-based\, ready-to-use materials are extremely difficult to access. \nJoin the next Ag Sector Council event\, where the Integrating Gender and Nutrition within Agricultural Extension Services (INGENAES) project is addressing this challenge and presenting concrete approaches that will enable participants to: \n\nIdentify gaps in existing services and develop ways to better integrate gender and nutrition\nIdentify how more strategic work in these areas will cause greater impact\nPropose strategies to improve delivery of quality services\nDevelop mutually-beneficial partnerships\nEnhance existing gender equity and improved nutrition contributions\n\nExperts will engage participants in the new Institutional Review and Planning Framework and training-of-trainers activities. In addition\, participants will have the opportunity to share their experience with institutional capacity development and how they’ve been able to motivate change related to gender and nutrition. \nRegister now! \n
