SUMMARY:Marrakech Climate Change Conference
DESCRIPTION:At the Marrakech Climate Change Conference – November 2016 (7-18 November)\, nations of the world will continue their work on strengthening the global response to the threat of climate change\, with the central focus placed on enhancing ambition\, promoting implementation and providing support. \nParis Climate Change Agreement\nMarrakech also marks a turning point because the landmark Paris Climate Change Agreement will enter into force during the conference. Strengthening action on mitigation and adaptation by all Parties before 2020\, governments will make concerted efforts in Marrakech to support domestic action that will give effect to nationally determined contributions\, combined with collaborative initiatives as part of an intensified Global Climate Action with non-state actors. \nThe COP22\nThe COP stands for the “Conference of the Parties.” It is the supreme decision-making body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)\, opened for signature in 1992 during the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro and later entered into force in 1994. Through this instrument\, the United Nations has equipped itself with an action framework to fight global warming. \nThe COP was created and put in place in order to structure the efforts of the Parties to the Convention as they address climate change. The COP meets annually to review and assess the implementation of the UNFCCC and any other legal instruments the body adopts with the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and fighting climate change.  These annual UN climate change conferences are commonly referred to as COP. The COP22 is scheduled to take place in Marrakech\, Morocco from November 7 to 18\, 2016. \nMarrakech Conference\nAt the Marrakech Conference\, countries around the world will also work hard to put in place measures for strengthening appropriate financial flows\, a new technology framework and an enhanced capacity building framework as envisioned in the Paris Agreement with a view to supporting action by developing countries and the most vulnerable countries\, in line with their own national objectives. \nFor an overview schedule of the two weeks of the conference\, please see here. \nWhether you will be in Marrakech or following the conference virtually\, the Marrakech Conference Information Hub regularly gives you a quick access point to find out how to participate or follow the negotiations and how to navigate through the many pieces of information and news that are available. \nHolland Pavillion\nA Holland Pavillion for Dutch agencies and companies will be part of the Conference. SUMMARY:2016 Integrated Nutrition Conference
DESCRIPTION:To strengthen its skill in working across thematic sectors with different partners\, particularly the private sector\, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) and members of the private sector\, NGOs\, academia and donor community will come together in Nairobi\, Kenya from November 14-16\, 2016 to learn from\, share experiences and motivate each other in Responding with the Private Sector for Greater Nutrition Impact.  \nMalnutrition presents significant threats to human health and economic development. Today\, the world faces the double burden of malnutrition—undernutrition and obesity— in both developed and developing countries. Solutions to this problem are complex and require collaborative\, multi-sectoral and integrated efforts among actors including the private sector\, non-governmental organizations (NGOs)\, governments\, academia\, and donor agencies. Partnerships built from these collaborative efforts offer enormous potential for innovation across sectors as well as leveraging of resources and capabilities for improving the nutrition of vulnerable populations. \nGlobal leaders in the areas of nutrition\, water and sanitation\, agriculture\, health and early childhood development\, education\, and gender will come together during the conference to share tools\, technologies\, practices\, business models\, and multi-sectoral partnership strategies for improving nutritional outcomes for vulnerable populations. \n\nCall for Abstracts\nCRF is seeking proposals for oral and poster presentations that meet the conference objectives\, which are to: \n\nIdentify strategies for civil society\, government and academia to partner with the private sector in addressing the nutritional needs of vulnerable populations\nLeverage private sector products\, services\, technologies and practices that support the nutritional needs of vulnerable populations\n\nSubmission deadline: June 15\, 2016\, 9:00pm EST. \n\nSubmit your abstract online\nView submission instructions\n\n
