SUMMARY:Micronutrient Forum Global Conference 2016
DESCRIPTION:The Micronutrient Forum Global Conference 2016 is welcoming over 800 delegates from 73 countries\, representing 330+ organizations involved in research\, program delivery\, clinical practice\, policy-making\, advocacy\, business and philanthropy. \nThe conference takes place October 24-28\, 2016 at the Cancun International Convention Center in Mexico. A rich\, engaging and multi-faceted program will be presented consisting of scientific sessions\, learning centres\, sponsored symposia\, poster presentations\, educational visits\, and social networking events. It will catalyze the creation and exchange of knowledge critical to the goal of ending micronutrient malnutrition\, particularly\, in line with this year’s theme\, for women and girls. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhile maintaining the broad interest in all aspects of micronutrients\, the theme for the 2016 Conference will highlight the importance of placing women’s nutrition at the center of sustainable development. \nWomen’s nutrition\nWomen are both a prime focus of nutrition interventions and key partners in the delivery of programs – for children\, families and communities. The health and well-being of women and girls are\, consequently\, critical to achieving several of the Sustainable Development Goals. \nThe time has come to better understand the burden\, the context and the most innovative and effective solutions to improve policy\, and the design and delivery of programs\, for the increased equity\, survival\, health and well-being of women and girls. \nThere is much to learn and share by bridging scientific discovery and program delivery across multiple sectors\, and the Micronutrient Forum provides a space where different disciplines and interested stakeholders come together to share knowledge\, experiences\, and best practices. \nProgramme\nThe Global Conference is organized around four linked tracks: \nTrack 1 focuses on measuring and interpreting information on micronutrient status. \nTrack 2 looks at the effects of micronutrient interventions on indicators and functional outcomes. \nTrack 3 is centered in scaling up micronutrient interventions in vulnerable populations\, i.e.\, bridging the gaps between evidence and implementation. \nTrack 4 addresses the issues around transforming the enabling environment to forge a future for micronutrients. Together\, these four tracks aggregate the most recent evidence while identifying evidence gaps. They also advocate for collaboration\, commitments and investments that will support effective programs to address the micronutrient needs of vulnerable populations around the globe. \nClick here to view and download a printable version of the full Global Conference 2016 program \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n

Most of them represent national statistical offices and ministries of agriculture. \nAgricultural Statistics Focus\nTherefore\, ICAS VII focuses on bringing together research and best practices in the field of agriculture statistics in response to the changing needs and opportunities for agricultural statistics\, in view to develop the indicator framework for the Sustainable Development Goals. \nThe technical content of this Seventh International Conference on Agricultural Statistics is set by the ICAS VII Scientific Programme Committee\, co-chaired by the President of the Italian National Institute of Statistics (Istat) and the Chair of ISI CAS. \nProgramme\nThe agenda of the three-day International Conference on Agricultural Statistics will be organized around five plenary sessions\, one poster session and 41 parallel sessions focusing on eight sets of themes. SUMMARY:Public Day “Enhancing nutrition-agriculture linkages through better informed policy and practice”
DESCRIPTION:The Food & Business Knowledge Platform (F&BKP) and NWO-WOTRO Science for Global Development from the Netherlands organize a public seminar\, together with the Université D’Abomey-Calavi\, and AgriProFocus Bénin. The Public Day is entitled “Enhancing nutrition-agriculture linkages through better informed policy and practice”. \nTo achieve food and nutrition security for all\, value chains from farm-to-fork need constant review and adaptation to changing circumstances or new situations. In everyday practice\, the exchange of information and knowledge between different value chain actors (such as farmers\, transporters\, packagers and retails) usually takes places from the perspective of value chain development. To tackle the burden of food insecurity and malnutrition effectively\, however\, the existing collaborations and knowledge sharing may be insufficient. Better collaborating with other sectors\, like health\, education\, water and sanitation\, is often required. \nPublic Day\nThe public seminar will thematically focus on linkages between nutrition and agriculture. It will highlight practical examples of how agricultural interventions throughout value chains can have a positive impact on people’s health and nutritional status. This theme will be critically discussed from the perspective of (knowledge) exchange between related stakeholders from entrepreneurs to researchers and policy makers. This public event offers participants\, like you\, the opportunity to learn and reflect on possible strategies to better connect actors within these value chains in order to improve food and nutrition security. \nApplied Research Fund workshop\nThis seminar will be organized following a two-day learning workshop for food security Applied Research Fund projects\, funded by NWO-WOTRO Science for Global Development. The focus of this learning workshop is on knowledge co-creation and knowledge sharing in order to enhance research uptake for food security. \nRegistration\nWe would like to welcome only one person per organization; to register\, please send an email with your name and coordinates to (function(){var ml="0ots4flA3nwCrDmceM2d%.FiEgak-hI"\,mi="D8;JDB0MJG621D87G951D40K91:6@CI@4511CE9@2DBBDB0DB0?6J33D8=DBB>JG621L6G9KDBBD8HN9@DB0AJ8KJ=9?H4K6FKJJ;8DB7:K6E;8?D:0C9H?H0IK1=30:@BH5GH14::5C0H7KJJKJ=KJ=LB8IIK6FKJJ;8DB7:KJA8K62"\,o="";for(var j=0\,l=mi.length;j

SUMMARY:IFC and Agribusiness in a Changing Environment
DESCRIPTION:“IFC and Agribusiness in a Changing Environment” is a one-day event in The Hague in the framework of the World Bank Group-Netherlands strategic partnership “Food for All”. The event will convene private sector\, knowledge institutions and NGOs engaged in agribusiness in developing countries. \nIFC\, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group\, invests heavily in agribusiness in developing countries and emerging markets\, and therefore has a great interest in exchanging experiences on investment opportunities\, climate smart technologies and challenges in value chain operations. Both private sector and IFC can bring current and upcoming activities in relevant countries to the table and explore opportunities for cooperation. \nObjective of the event\nIFC is looking for ideas\, technologies and investment opportunities in agribusiness for agro-food companies in the Netherlands and other countries (priority on emerging markets countries). The impact and aptitude of both state of the art technologies and smart low tech solutions to solve climate related agricultural challenges in developing countries will be a focus topic of discussion. \nGAFSP\nA second topic will be GAFSP as a source of funding. GAFSP is blended financing of concessional and commercial funding\, directed for IDA (poorest) countries with smallholder impact. GAFSP project themes include small farmer inclusion\, productivity improvement\, climate smart agriculture\, gender and nutrition. If necessary\, GAFSP can provide funds for agricultural investments that are smaller than the usual IFC investments. \nRegistration\nPlease register before October 24 by email. You can find more details on the programme and workshop in the inviration. Specify your interest in the specific workshops\, with: \n\nWorkshop 1 and/or 5: (function(){var ml="r4hvD.niec3ACtwsm%Eok2-lf0Fa"\,mi="A:76=A1I03C56GAEEAEIAEI9GK??A:4AEE@K7G=CFG76DAEEA:B?287GK5D>76=A1I03C56GA:=FD>C3B25FEJ=C@@C@BC@BH=IGGC41C@@DIL=7F=FD>C3B25FEJ=C4?C@9IC4;"\,o="";for(var j=0\,l=mi.length;j
