SUMMARY:Micronutrient Forum Global Conference 2016
DESCRIPTION:The Micronutrient Forum Global Conference 2016 is welcoming over 800 delegates from 73 countries\, representing 330+ organizations involved in research\, program delivery\, clinical practice\, policy-making\, advocacy\, business and philanthropy. \nThe conference takes place October 24-28\, 2016 at the Cancun International Convention Center in Mexico. A rich\, engaging and multi-faceted program will be presented consisting of scientific sessions\, learning centres\, sponsored symposia\, poster presentations\, educational visits\, and social networking events. It will catalyze the creation and exchange of knowledge critical to the goal of ending micronutrient malnutrition\, particularly\, in line with this year’s theme\, for women and girls. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWhile maintaining the broad interest in all aspects of micronutrients\, the theme for the 2016 Conference will highlight the importance of placing women’s nutrition at the center of sustainable development. \nWomen’s nutrition\nWomen are both a prime focus of nutrition interventions and key partners in the delivery of programs – for children\, families and communities. The health and well-being of women and girls are\, consequently\, critical to achieving several of the Sustainable Development Goals. \nThe time has come to better understand the burden\, the context and the most innovative and effective solutions to improve policy\, and the design and delivery of programs\, for the increased equity\, survival\, health and well-being of women and girls. \nThere is much to learn and share by bridging scientific discovery and program delivery across multiple sectors\, and the Micronutrient Forum provides a space where different disciplines and interested stakeholders come together to share knowledge\, experiences\, and best practices. \nProgramme\nThe Global Conference is organized around four linked tracks: \nTrack 1 focuses on measuring and interpreting information on micronutrient status. \nTrack 2 looks at the effects of micronutrient interventions on indicators and functional outcomes. \nTrack 3 is centered in scaling up micronutrient interventions in vulnerable populations\, i.e.\, bridging the gaps between evidence and implementation. \nTrack 4 addresses the issues around transforming the enabling environment to forge a future for micronutrients. Together\, these four tracks aggregate the most recent evidence while identifying evidence gaps. They also advocate for collaboration\, commitments and investments that will support effective programs to address the micronutrient needs of vulnerable populations around the globe. \nClick here to view and download a printable version of the full Global Conference 2016 program \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n
