SUMMARY:Summer school on Dutch greenhouse horticulture
DESCRIPTION:Wageningen University and Research centre is the “knowledge heart” of the Dutch Greenhouse Horticulture\, which is the most advanced and productive in the world. After the huge success of the first “Summer School on Protected Horticulture”\, Wageningen UR scientists will share again their unique knowledge with international students and researchers during 2016 Summer School on Protected Horticulture that will be held in Wageningen. \nSummerschool outline\nAfter a general introduction on Protected Horticulture and a cursory review of important topics\, we will explore crop\, climate and root zone management in more detail\, in a varied and attractive mix of lectures\, practical case work\, company visits and seminars by relevant actors and\nexperts. The “social factor” will not be neglected: there will be joint dinners and a programme for the weekend can be prepared. \nTarget group\nThis excellent and intensive Summer School is meant for MSc and PhD students\, post-docs and junior scientists from all over the world. Particular attention has been given to develop a program that relates to and is interesting for protected cultivation with less technology than is usual in The Netherlands. So\, basics will be learned to apply directly in your own country/situation. \nResult\nAfter successfully attending the Summer School\, you will:\n• Know the most relevant processes in protected cultivation ranging from plant physiology to economics.\n• Understand how technology affects climate management\, crop production and resourceuse efficiency.\n• Be able to apply this knowledge to quantitatively address decisions about climate management\, crop cultivation and nutrition. \nFor more information on the topics\, speakers\, fees and registration\, pelase visit the website of the Wageningen Academy. \n
