Food and nutrition insecurity is a multidimensional issue that will only be resolved if growth\, distribution and sustainability are tackled in unison. DESCRIPTION:The 1st Moroccan Regional Science Association (AMRS) Congress and 23rd Portuguese Association for Regional Development (APDR) Congress will be held at Marrakech\, Morocco\, from May 30 to 31\, 2016. DESCRIPTION:The Kosmos Workshop “Emergency Agriculture and Food Security” will bring together leading Berlin-based\, German and international researchers working on various related aspects of this emerging field. \nThey will pursue three related objectives: \n\nTo review recent findings and scientific progress (the “state of the art”);\nTo identify and prioritize novel research questions (or “knowledge gaps”); and\nTo plan future research collaborations and joint proposals.\n\nThese objectives will be attained by reviewing a set of related research questions with short presentations and subsequent plenary discussions. \nThe overall research themes include: \n\nForms and representations of emergencies and fragile environments;\nDrivers of food insecurity in emergencies and in fragile environments;\nAgricultural practices in emergencies;\nConsequences of food insecurity in emergencies and in fragile environments\, especially at the individual level;\nThe role and impact of local and global policy actors for emergency agriculture and food security;\nNew and emerging data sources and indicators; and\nMethods and techniques.\n\n\n

SUMMARY:Launching the 2nd generation NAIP and RAIP drafting process
DESCRIPTION:The ECOWAS Commission in partnership with the African Union and NEPAD are organizig under the patronage of Minister of Agriculture of the Ivory Coast\, a Regional workshop for launching the 2nd generation NAIP and RAIP drafting process in Abidjan from 30 May to 2 June 2016.  \nThe objective of the regional workshop is to discuss and validate the development process NIPA and second generation PRIA\, and engage its implementation. This event\, facilitated by the Rural Hub\, will bring together participants including: representatives of the African Union Commission\, representatives of the other regional economic communities on the continent\, delegates from each member State\, representatives of producer organizations\, civil society and the private sector\, and representatives of regional and international technical organizations. Finally the technical and financial partners meeting within the ECOWAP of the donor group be involved. \nThis Abidjan workshop is a fundamental stage in launching the 2nd generation NAIPs and RAIP drafting process as part of the Zero Hunger by 2025 objective. Given the various processes currently underway (SDGs\, Malabo\, COP 21\, AGIR\, etc.)\, this ECOWAS-led process is intended as a framework that facilitates the integration of all these converging initiatives\, both at national and regional level\, so as to simplify its governance and thereby improve its efficiency.    \n
