DESCRIPTION:The Association for Vertical Farming (AVF) and its Regional Chapter India have partnered with the Horticulture Producers Society India to offer you a two day event focused on Vertical Farming technologies\, businesses and case studies. \nThe AVF’s focus on India is driven by staggering facts that India’s arable land is often contaminated\, overused\, yields are endangered by droughts or floods. SUMMARY:Planetary Security Conference
DESCRIPTION:The conference provides an international platform for high level policy makers and experts working on the threats posed to security\, stability and development by climate change\, environmental degradation and resource scarcity. \nThe aim of the conference is to enhance knowledge sharing and international cooperation amongst leading decision makers\, academics\, think tanks and security organisations. In addition\, this annual event in the Hague will create momentum for more coherent policy and action. \nThe Planetary Security Initiative will help create greater political awareness and wider involvement for implementing an integrated agenda to help strengthen resilience to climate-fragility risks. \nSpecific Objectives\n\nTo provide a regular annual platform for experts on climate change and security to exchange information and increase cooperation.\nTo stimulate the involvement of a wider community of actors in the discussion and action on climate change and security.\nTo promote increased interaction between related initiatives and processes addressing the planetary security risks caused by climate change\, environmental degradation and help shape the needed policies for the decades to come.\n\nWorking Group 9: Food Security\nGlobal food security is facing multiple challenges: undernourishment\, poverty and the need to feed a growing world population; industrial crop and meat production; price speculations on globalized food markets; competition for energy and land; degradation of fishery\, soil and water resources; and climate change as a risk multiplier. Complex food crises may contribute to economic\, social and political destabilization\, as demonstrated by the cascading events of the Arab Spring. A viable transformation of the food system requires new governance mechanisms and enabling frameworks for a resilient climate-smart agriculture and sustainable food security. \n
