The Micronutrient Forum 5th Global Conference 2020 takes place March 23-27, 2020 in Bangkok, Thailand. The theme is “Building New Evidence and Alliances for Improving Nutrition”.
The Micronutrient Forum 5th Global Conference 2020 will be the first organized under the now legally constituted Micronutrient Forum that retains its vision of a world where all people have optimal micronutrient status for health and well-being. The Micronutrient Forum looks forward to sharing and discussing its innovative plans for the future with partners and colleagues at the meeting.
The scientific program will build on the rich heritage of our previous global meetings, in presenting the latest on micronutrients from the perspectives of basic and integrative science, as well as efficacy in program implementation and the enabling environment. The conference will also take a deep dive into the complexity of food systems and their interactions with micronutrients, reaching out to new partners and stakeholders to widen our interactions with other vital role players. It will provide a unique opportunity to tackle some of the most complex challenges in micronutrient malnutrition. The program will: identify high-impact research opportunities and gaps; facilitate difficult but necessary conversations; create roadmaps for the way forward; and, translate scientific findings into effective program implementation and evidence-informed policy decisions.
The conference is being held some six months before the Global Nutrition for Growth Summit in Japan, and so will serve as a platform for stakeholders to meet and prepare to ensure the global nutrition and development community will continue to accelerate sustainable progress towards ‘ending malnutrition in all its forms by 2030’, a subcomponent of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Over 1000 delegates from around the world will be welcomed – bringing together individuals from academia, government, multilateral agencies, CSOs, NGOs, and the private sector who can add their strengths to advocacy, collaboration and collective dialogue for a world free from micronutrient malnutrition.
