Dutch Development Results 2019 in Perspective: Food and Nutrition Security highlights

The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has presented its annual online report providing an overview of the results achieved by the Netherlands in the field of development cooperation in 2019. Under the theme Food and Nutrition Security, the Netherlands contributed to greater nutrient intake, productivity and market access, better management of natural resources and greater resilience to economic and environmental shocks. »

Dairy Development in emerging economies: A motor for sustainable and healthy growth?

Dairy Development and intensification contributes to healthy food, gainful employment and sustaining the agro-ecological base, stated Jan van der Lee during his key note speech at the Dairy event in Veenendaal on November 27. A total of 89 participants joined the workshop on “Dairy Development in emerging economies: A motor for sustainable and healthy growth?” to discuss needs, challenges and opportunities of dairy development in emerging economies. The input gathered during the meeting will enrich the draft Dairy Discussion paper and the proposed Dutch agenda for dairy and development. »

The Food & Business Knowledge Platform (F&BKP), Embassy Support Programme and Talent Pool will continue as the Knowledge Programme for Food Security. This Programme will increase the impact of Dutch projects, programmes, policies, investments and business on SDG2 by knowledge brokering across professional divides. It will facilitate the creation, exchange and – particularly – the use of knowledge by Dutch actors and their LMIC partners. »

This paper presents the main lessons from Dutch-supported public–private partnerships (PPPs) in food security and water, provides building blocks for making PPPs deliver on the SDGs, with fundamental implications for key partners in PPPs and policymakers. Taking into account the lessons from Dutch-supported PPPs and their challenges, the Dutch PPP approach is in need of recalibration. »
