Young Expert Programmes (YEP) Water and Agrofood
YEP and the F&BKP
The successful Young Expert Programmes (YEP) was initiated with the objective of providing assurances for the continued availability of international professionalism and expertise in the water sector. Because of the ongoing internationalization also in food and trade and due to the absolute increase in the importance of the food sector for sustainable development in Low & Middle Income Countries, YEP Agrofood was added to YEP Water in 2015.
The goal of YEP is to contribute to the dynamic international Water and Agrofood sectors by rejuvenating the participating sectors, strengthen networks and encourage innovation. YEP Agrofood is a work and training programme for young Dutch and international professionals in the agrofood sector and will also contribute to FNS objectives.
Since 2018, each year three YEP positions open up in the Talent Pool programme, which is carried out by AgriProFocus on assignment by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the so-called FNS Support Facility. The Talent Pool programme connects Dutch Embassies working in the FNS field with young professionals who have ambitions in this sector. The Young Experts support the implementation of the FNS agenda at the Embassies and link Embassy practice to Dutch education.
YEP is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, together with the participating Dutch organizations in the two programmes. YEP is a partnership of the Ministry, the Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) and the Food & Business Knowledge Platform (F&BKP) and carried out by the YEP Programme Bureau.
F&BKP contributes to the programme by looking for organizations and candidates, advising on the training modules, supporting the young experts on knowledge questions and sharing their experience with a wider audience.
About YEP
Both YEP Water and Agrofood offer young Dutch professionals the possibility to gain experience abroad and young local professionals to take their first steps in an international environment through Dutch organizations for a period of 1 or 2 years. Both YEP programmes contribute to a dynamic international network and make it open for a new generation of experts. Besides building an international network, Young Experts develop their personal goals, receive intensive coaching, attend training sessions and master classes in order to develop their skills
