AgriProFocus and the F&BKP

AgriProFocus is consortium partner in the secretariat of the F&BKP. The F&BKP Office team is staffed by employees from AgriProFocus, WCDI, and The Broker, mostly on part-time basis. Valuable asset of AgriProFocus for the F&BKP is their experience with knowledge and innovation communities with partners in LMICs. The 13 Country Networks, including their capacities and local contacts, are valuable hubs for organizing local activities. AgriProFocus and F&BKP activities are often complementary, for example on Fruits & Vegetables, Finance and Youth.

AgriProFocus Kenya has received funds from the F&BKP Knowledge Management Facility for co-organization of the Livestock Expo and Conference in Nairobi from November 4 till 6, 2015. Furthermore, AgriProFocus co-operates within the Platform on various priority themes, like Fruits & Vegetbales and Youth in Agri-Food.

AgriProFocus is an international multi-stakeholder network in the agri-food sector consisting of farmer entrepreneurs, private sector enterprises, government, knowledge institutions and civil society organisations. By bringing these stakeholders together, their individual and collective impact increases.

Active in 13 countries in Africa and South-East Asia, and linking 22.000 agribusiness professionals worldwide, AgriProFocus is the go-to network for farmer entrepreneurs in agricultural value chains. The AgriProFocus network members collaborate to strengthen the position of farmers and other agri-entrepreneurs in agricultural value chains. Entrepreneurs, small and medium scale, who are market oriented, business driven and willing to learn, innovate and grow. Entrepreneurs who together can, and will, make a difference for sustainable food and nutrition security at national, regional and international level. The role of AgriProFocus secretariat and Country Networks is to facilitate:

Linking: AgriProFocus members work through the network to be able to have access to each others resources, contacts, expertise, tools and knowledge.

Learning: Through the learning activities AgriProFocus facilitates members to explore, create and strengthen opportunities for synergy and joint action.

Leadership: Building on evidence based cases, the AgriProFocus members jointly shape the discourse at national, regional and global level. Leadership activities offer members leverage and improved visibility & credibility.

Dairy Development and intensification contributes to healthy food, gainful employment and sustaining the agro-ecological base, stated Jan van der Lee during his key note speech at the Dairy event in Veenendaal on November 27. A total of 89 participants joined the workshop on “Dairy Development in emerging economies: A motor for sustainable and healthy growth?” to discuss needs, challenges and opportunities of dairy development in emerging economies. The annual African Dairy Conference & Exhibition (AfDa) is the key event for the dairy industry in East Africa. The day before this event, a coalition of NEADAP, AgriProFocus, 3R and F&BKP co-organized a joint knowledge sharing event “Dairy, the motor for healthy growth”.
