Fokke Fennema works in New Delhi as Senior Agriculture Specialist at the World Bank Group. He is seconded by the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs, in the context of the WBG-Netherlands partnership “Food for All”. Fokke will publish a monthly blog on his experiences and insights while working on the agricultural programs of the World Bank Group in India.

In his first blog (in Dutch) of March 03, 2017, he elaborates on the agricultural context and challenges of India, related to overall economic inequality and the low productivity of agriculture. He argues that India’s biggest challenge is to make the agricultural sector more productive, sustainable and climate resilient the coming years. To support the efforts of the Indian government in achieving this, the World Bank also has its largest agricultural programs in India.

Fokke’s monthly blogs will be published on the website of “Agro news abroad” (“Agroberichten buitenland”). Links to the blogs will be added to the “Food for All” page of the Food & Business Knowledge Platform website.
