Marcel Beukeboom is leading the Food and Nutrition Security team since August 2012. As a member of the Management Team of the Department for Inclusive Green Growth, he is responsible for the development and implementation of Dutch policies for food and nutrition security. He also leads a multi-disciplinary team on partnerships for development. Marcel is co-chair of the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP) and represents his Minister in the Global Agenda Council for Food Security of the World Economic Forum.

Before his return to the Netherlands he was Counselor for Trade and Multilateral Affairs at the Dutch Embassy in Washington DC. As such he dealt with bilateral and transatlantic trade relations, US and EU trade politics, and multilateral organizations like WTO, Worldbank and IMF. Prior positions were in The Hague and Pretoria, South Africa.

Marcel Beukeboom holds a Masters title in International Relations (University of Groningen), with a specialization in democratization processes. He gained practical experience in this field at the Department of Political Affairs, in the Secretariat of the United Nations in New York, in 1997. He is an alumnus of Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government, where he followed the Practice of Trade Policy Program in 2009.
